Personal Sewing Projects

I’ve been having fun creating some projects for us lately. Sometimes it’s hard with all of the sewing that I do for Koala Pouch to find the time to do fun projects that aren’t for work, but I have managed to complete a couple of things lately that I thought I would share!

I found a great pattern for a reversible bucket hat that I decided to try, and it turned out really well. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t measure my daughter’s head first so it’s too small… Thankfully I have a sweet little niece that I can give it to. I’ll have to make another one in a bigger size for my little one! I found the pattern here: Be sure to check out Melanie Falick’s books on her website, they look fantastic!

There are a couple of changes I will make to this pattern the next time around to simplify it, so let me know if you are going to try it and I’ll give you some input. Karis liked this hat so much that she slept with it on the first night I tried it on her, so I’ll have to hurry up and make one that sits properly on her head!

The next project I completed is a Birthday Pennant Banner that I adapted from this blog: I loved the look of this, and I have LOTS of fabric scraps, so I made it before my daughter’s birthday party this past weekend and it took no time at all!

Birthday Pennant Banner

Kelly from Imperfect Homemaking used double sided craft tape to attach the fabric triangles to her ribbon, but to save this expense and make the banner longer lasting I sewed mine together, which was a really quick process. I also cut my triangles so that they are folded over the ribbon and doubled which means that I have the option of hanging the pennant banner in a location where it will be seen from both sides.

I am also nearly finished a twin sized quilt for my youngest daughter. I pieced it together, and my husband’s dear Oma hand quilted it for me, so all I have left to do is to sew on the binding in time for her birthday in a couple of weeks. Once it is complete I will be sure to share pictures!

And lastly, a project that I hope to start before too long is to make 3 pillowcase dresses for my girls. I found a very simple tutorial here: My girls LOVE to wear dresses and I’m sure they would really enjoy something pretty for the summer made by me.

For all the sewers and crafters out there, what are some projects that you have completed recently or hope to complete? I would love if you shared pictures! Thanks for taking the time to read about my current personal sewing projects.
